Dive deep into your Desires; connect to your Essence and uncover what you really want to Create in your life this year…

"I will not hide my tastes or aversions. I will trust that what is deep is holy." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

You have already made a commitment to yourself and to this process…you set an intention to release 2013 and take with you only that which serves your highest and best good…you have burned away the past, clearing space and freeing up your energy, your heart and your mind to build anew…

Now it's time to get in touch with what is really important for the year ahead.  The focus of this process isn't about making a list of "New Year's Resolutions" full of goals you most likely will loose interest in within the first few months of the year (you know how the story goes!!).  This process isn't about merely writing down how much more money you would like or how many pounds you would like to loose and keep off.  It is about getting in touch with your Core Essence, the part within you that is eternal, beautiful, perfect and whole and oh so wise… It is time to connect back to your heart, touch your Soul and uncover what you really, really want in this lifetime…

Here's the thing: all of our desires (aka goals) lead us to feel a certain way.   They bring us in touch with how we want to FEEL… So let's tune into what we want to create this year by getting in touch with how we primarily want to feel, or our "Core Desired Feelings" as the rockstar spiritual Diva, Danielle La Porte likes to call them. (By the way, if you don't have her book The Desire Map on your "to-read list" yet, check it out and sign-up for a Desire Map Group near you! - p.s. if you live in the Seattle area I will be starting one in Jan., so stay tuned and let me know if you are interested!).

Today I spoke with one my dearest friend's Tami.  We talked about the process of cleansing and shedding of the past, as well what we are wanting to create and how we will be stepping into the New Year.  We spoke about our vision boards and how excited we both were… we LOVE our vision boards and are so excited to gaze up upon these symbolic works of art!  Tami studies Art Therapy and has been tuning into her creative artistic side (aka, the right-brain) for quite some time.  She mentioned that she feels as if our soul already knows what is going to happen in the year ahead, but that we aren't consciously aware of it and even if we were our logical brain left-brain wouldn't understand how that's possible so would most likely second guess or try to discredit the information/insight.  I would have to say that I agree.  The more aware and awake we become to the subtle messages of our inner knowing, we begin to recognize how our soul communicates to us through images, symbols and abstract means via the unconscious and subconscious mind.  Through the process of creating a vision board and allowing the images to be as abstract or symbolic as you like, you might just be receiving a direct message from your soul/ higher Self/ inner knowing!   When Tami looked upon her vision board from last year she was able to recognize elements that may have seemed abstract or symbolic at the time but then actually came into her life.  The creative right-brained activity of a vision board can be powerful as well as a lot of fun!  If you need some tips on how to create a vision board I will post mine with some ideas for you :)

Ok, so let's start by tuning into your desires…

Take a moment to think about the different areas of your life: livelihood, lifestyle, body, wellness, creativity, learning, personal development, relationships, society, spirituality… In each area reflect upon what is and isn't working, your current level of satisfaction in that particular area and how you would really like to feel (writing it down helps!).  Once you've taken some time to write and reflect follow the next steps…

1:  Tune into your external desires - the things you would like to achieve in the outer world.  Ask yourself what you would like to do, experience or have…  Do you desire more money, to climb a mountain, loose weight, buy a new car, find a new career, find your soulmate, have a child, keep the house clean, do a juice fast, take that painting class, finally learn meditation…?  What are the things you most want to achieve?  What are your desires?  Your intentions?  Be as specific as possible and use the S.M.A.R.T. philosophy.  (The more specific you are, the easier it is for the Universe to respond!)  Don't censor yourself, be bold, be brave and be honest… This is the time to let it all out and see what transpires.

2:   Take a moment to tune into how you long to feel… What feelings would you like cultivate more of?  Would you like to feel greater love, joy, self-confidence or sense of belonging?  To feel strong, vibrant and alive?  Or to be more patient, grounded and loving?  Whatever it is you are internally longing to feel more of, write it down.  Tune into your internal desires and allow them to pour out from your heart.

3:   Now look over the two lists and ask yourself with each desire, why do I want this?  Is this a desire of my soul?  What do I hope to experience if I manifest this desire?  Is this in my highest and best good?  Is it in line with my values, integrity and purpose?  -  This is a process I like to think of as "uncovering my motives".  It gives me a chance to check in with my higher self and tune into what is really important in my life.  It also strengthens my desires though understanding my motives and my why… As I tune into the feeling I will have when I achieve a particular goal (such as exceeding my previous salary through my new business) I am able to uncover my WHY… Why do I want to "have" that amount of money in my bank account?  What feeling will it bring me and what can I do today, right now to create that very same feeling in my life?  (remember this key part for the final step tomorrow!)

4:   Now comes the tough part… narrow it down to your top three or four external desires.  Connect your external desires with internal feelings… How will you feel if you accomplish those desires?  What will change in your life if you do?  How will you feel?  What will it look like?  What will it sound like?  Filter it down until you've come up with your top three or four Core Desired Feelings. When you achieve those goals you will feel _______.  Check in and see how deeply the words resonate with you.  Feel them.  Allow the energy of the words to fill your Being.  Fill your heart and soul.  Check in and see if those core desired feelings are the feelings that are most desirable for you at this point in your life.  Adjust them if you need to.  Filter it down to it's essence.  For instance "success" in my business could really be about freedom or love and "finding my soulmate" could really be about a feeling of deep connection.  Take a moment to reflect on what you can do right now to create that very same feeling in your life…

5:   Simply BE.  Be with your writing.  Tune in.  Connect.  Feel the words you wrote deep in your heart and allow them to fill your entire Being…  Imagine yourself living from this place, living with these feelings running through you in a powerful and transformative way… Imagine your life unfolding as the beautiful and unique story it is.  Be in gratitude.  Fill your heart with gratitude and the blessings of your life.  Fill your heart with joy for today and for your future… You are showing up and doing the work, you are saying YES to YOU!

Congratulations for making it this far!!  Now we only have one step left… to PROCLAIM our desires, calling out to the world and to ourselves exactly what it is we are calling into our lives this year!!!  GET READY FOR RADICAL LIFE TRANSFORMATION!

Sending you Love & Abundant Blessings this New Years Eve eve,

Heather
