When we start this journey of self-care we often have to (re)build trust in ourselves that we can and will make choices that support our wellbeing, and long-term visions. We probably have a long list of things we “know” and “should” be doing for ourselves. Like meditation, exercise, eating healthy, getting to bed early, cleaning house, investing more in our relationships, being out in nature, creative expression, sensual moments, romance, and play time. But for some odd reason, those things that would be so nurturing, supportive, and life enhancing always seem to get pushed to the bottom of our to-do list.
I know from personal experience how difficult we can make this journey out to be! Over the years I have struggled with self-discipline, and putting my own self-care on my non-negotiable list. And because of my own struggle in this area I have continued to seek guidance, support, tools, mentorship, and accountability. This also why one of the 5-Elements of Transformation I teach my clients is focused solely on establishing your Core Health Pillars and laying a rock-solid foundation for success in all aspects of your life.
Creating these new habits are an intricate dance between upping our game, listening to our bodies, and overcoming the gremlins in our heads that are experts in rationalizing why we don’t have time, and we end up living in an endless sea of “tomorrow’s”.
If you’ve been paying attention you have probably heard the statistics about people who wake up at 5am and have morning routines that ground and center them, energize and excite them. Hal Elrod of the Morning Miracle wrote a book about it and now teaches the power of morning routines to people all around the world. What highly successful, fulfilled individuals have in common is that they start their day out right, laying a foundation for a productive, successful and happy day. They have established consistent daily habits, rituals, and routines that nourish body-mind, and spirit. They take time to align with what matters most and stay focused throughout the day on high impact activities.
