I am extremely passionate and dedicated to help lower these statistics and to educate and empower people with the understanding of how our bodies and minds when given the proper environment will THRIVE and do NOT need to be pumped full of medications to chase away symptoms rooted by a deeper a cause!!
This is what the MindBodyBeing Holistic Self-Care Revolution is all about! Taking your life and your health back into your hands and stop giving your power away to things outside of yourself. I know we can do this and it begins with a very personal commitment we make to ourselves!
I think we can all agree that Americans are overmedicated with a whopping 70% on at least one prescription drug, and more than half on at least two...this is simply too high of a number! And we all witnessed the cycle that when we start with one, we will soon need the next to counteract the negative effects of the first one...and so the vicious cycle begins.
Mayo Clinic researchers report that antibiotics, antidepressants and painkiller opioids are the most common prescriptions given to Americans. Twenty percent of U.S. patients were are on five or more prescription medications!
“Often when people talk about health conditions they’re talking about chronic conditions such as heart disease or diabetes,” Dr. St. Sauver stated in a Mayo Clinic press release. “However, the second most common prescription was for antidepressants — that suggests mental health is a huge issue and is something we should focus on. And the third most common drugs were opioids, which is a bit concerning considering their addicting nature.”
Heart disease and diabetes first and foremost can be PREVENTED as well as reversed through proper nutritional care and integrating self-care habits such as exercise, proper sleep and eliciting the relaxation response (for instance through meditation). Remember, our choices today affect our health and wellbeing tomorrow.
When we begin to practice "Self-Care" we are really practicing Self-Love and when we begin to love and care for ourselves our reasons for being depressed get lighter, the load we were carrying slowly lifts as we place our focus and attention within and no longer give our power away to people and things outside of ourselves.
Reading these statistics always fuel the fire I have within to stay on this path and fully dedicate my energy and my gifts to transforming these numbers and to live to see a thriving, happy, healthy and harmonious world!
